- Learning Disabilities are Neurological Disorders
- Learning Disability: Defined as a “retardation, disorder, or delayed development in one or more of the processes of speech, language, reading, writing, arithmetic, or other school subject resulting from a psychological handicap caused by a possible cerebral dysfunction and/or emotional or behavioral disturbances” (Kirk, 1962, p. 263)
- Examples of LDs include dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and nonverbal disabilities
- Strategies that can be used with students: Wait time, multisensory instruction(manipulatives), modeling, graphic organizers, one on one instruction, self regulation strategies, audiobooks, and chunking
